Last night... I had a dream...

Okay, so it was two weeks ago, but that is not the point of this story. The point of this story is, things are changing.

A few weeks ago, a dear friend of mine, Fluffy, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. While I may not have known her long, she was instantly one of the biggest positive influences of my life. I regret the fact that before she passed, I had been unable to visit in quite some time due to my work schedule and other hectic life events.

Shortly after her passing, we got news that a manager position was open at Cody's company... in their Seattle, Washington location. We both have loved the idea individually of living in the Washington area and so when the opportunity presented itself, I encouraged him to put in for the spot if he wanted to.

He put in for the spot the next day and we began planning for the potential move right away. We mapped out potential living areas, I started looking at jobs and we began discussing moving costs. Both of us were very excited at the possibility. The entire time; however, I spent reminding myself not to get my hopes up... it's only a possibility, not yet a reality and they may select someone else.

That night is when I had the dream that changed my outlook on everything.

I was sitting at a table in a room, just a plain white room with beige carpet like you'd find in any apartment building or house. Across the table from me sat Fluffy smiling her wonderful smile and laughing her wonderful laugh as though we had just finished reminiscing about a past game session, or inside joke.

As the laughter died down I began telling her about Cody's possible promotion and gushing about my extreme want to be in the Washington area.

"I don't want to get my hopes up though" I tell her as I sigh "I know it's not likely he'll get it if there is someone closer by who is more qualified."

She looked at me with a smirk and with complete assurance in her voice declared, "Don't worry, he will get it and you will both be on your way soon enough." and then, as though she wasn't even there, she began to fade away.

As she faded I blinked and suddenly, I was in a different room, full of boxes and dismantled furniture. Looking around the room I spot the front door in which Fluffy is now standing. She nods her head toward the window and speaks three simple words with that tell-tale smirk. "Told you so." I follow her gaze to look out the window and see the familiar green against grey skies that is synonymous with the Seattle stereotype.

I turn back, but the doorway now stands empty and I wake up. Upon awaking from this dream, her words rang constantly in my head. "Don't worry, he will get it and you will both be on your way soon enough." and those words pushed me to continue planning, continue coordinating and continue hoping for the best.

Today, we got word that Cody has been offered the position as warehouse manager at the Seattle, Washington location for his company.

Today, we got word that everything is about to change.

Today, we got word that we have this amazing opportunity to be where we want to be in life.

Today, Fluffy's other words are ringing in my mind "Told you so."

While I am eternally saddened by the passing of a good friend, I am eternally grateful to have a wonderful friend as my guardian angel as we begin this new life journey.

For those who may ask: we don't really have many specifics as of right now regarding a time frame for the move or anything like that. This story is just beginning, as more information comes, we will keep those who are interested updated.
